The City of Albany project has entered a new phase south of our main campus that may still impact those approaching Phoebe from the south As of April 15, Jefferson Street was blocked from Broad Avenue to Society Avenue.

Patients and visitors will be able to access the emergency center patient drop off from 4th Avenue. Please see the map below for the detailed traffic flow pattern. Security will be on-site to assist.

Information & Updates for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Emergency Center

As part of the new expansion of our ER at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, we have installed a new entrance and waiting area which will help us more efficiently and effectively triage and register patients in our busy ER. It will also provide us more room to ensure social distancing for our emergency patients and the caregivers who accompany them.

The modular unit located in the Emergency Center parking lot is open and serves as the new ‘front door’ to the Emergency Center. Inside the unit, our Registration, Security and Emergency Center team are ready to provide care to patients, as well as assist them into the hospital should more extensive care be needed.

A few things to remember with this traffic update:

  • To access the parking deck, employee/physicians, patients and visitors will need to access 4th Avenue from Jackson Street or Washington Street. The Employee/Physician parking garage entrance will be from 4th Avenue. Visitors/Patients entrance will be across from the Emergency Center entrance. The first floor in the parking deck is reserved for patients and visitors. Employees/Physicians will park on the upper levels.
  • Do not open any gate or move any fencing surrounding the construction sites. We understand construction around the Emergency Center and the Living and Learning Center is inconvenient. However, those barriers are in place for your safety.

We appreciate your patience as we work to enhance our facility and service to our community.

Expansion Projects Underway

Two major construction projects are underway at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. These projects will transform the delivery of emergency services in southwest Georgia by creating the largest and most advanced emergency and trauma center in the region. It will also expand our NICU space and allow us to remain on the cutting-edge of care for our tiniest patients, and it will provide us with additional intensive care rooms and more efficient and modern space for our critical care teams.  >> Learn more
