Changes Coming to Phoebe Main Emergency Center Parking

Albany, GA | January 5, 2022 – The emergency center parking lot on Phoebe’s main campus will close on Thursday, Jan. 6, and the public parking area will move to the first level of the adjacent parking deck.  The closure is necessary to accommodate construction work that is about to begin.

“With COVID cases rising rapidly again, we are installing a new ER entrance and waiting area in the parking lot which will help us more efficiently and effectively triage and register the additional patients expected in our busy ER.  It will also provide us more room to ensure social distancing for our emergency patients and the caregivers who accompany them,” said Joe Austin, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital CEO.  “Patients and visitors will still use W. 4th Ave. to access the ER.  We encourage them to park on the first level of the employee and physician parking deck, and our doctors and employees will park on the upper levels,” Austin added.

Signs will be posted in the area, directing patients and visitors to the proper areas, and a second entrance to the parking deck will open specifically for physicians and employees to improve traffic flow.

The current emergency center entrance will close on Monday, Jan. 10 as the awning is removed.  Walk-in traffic will be directed to a temporary entrance while the construction takes place.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to enhance our facility and service to our community,” Austin said.
