Dr. McLaurin earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and his Bachelor or Arts in Chemistry from the College of Charleston in South Carolina. He completed medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. He completed his Residency in Anesthesiology and Cadiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
He is board-certified in anesthesiology and transesophageal echocardiogram.
