VPILOT
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Inc. has, for each year since the Hospital Authority of Albany-Dougherty County purchased the former Palmyra Medical Center, made a voluntary payment in lieu of taxes (VPILOT) to the City of Albany and Dougherty County, Georgia.
While the property maintains tax-exempt status, Phoebe agreed to make these payments so the City of Albany and Dougherty County would not lose the tax benefit previously received from the for-profit Palmyra facility. VPILOT payments are made on a calendar year basis. For calendar year 2021, the amount paid was $552,675.89.
