Phoebe Volunteer Services Donates $50,000 to Sowega Council on Aging

Albany, GA | October 31, 2023 – Phoebe Volunteer Services donated $50,000 to the Sowega Council on Aging during a check presentation on October 26, 2023. The money will be used to help fund the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) Ramp Builders Program.

“The partnership between Phoebe and Sowega Council on Aging continues to be a great success. We are truly grateful for the countless hours and commitment in making a positive impact on our patients, their families, and the community,” said Suzanne Perrine, Director of Volunteer Services.

The RSVP Ramp Builders program constructs ramps at the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities, allowing them safe access to their homes. Each year the group builds an average of 100 ramps around the community. Individuals who participate in the program are not only volunteers with the Council on Aging but also Phoebe Volunteers.

“We are appreciative of Phoebe and their generous support in our mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Their donation to the ramp project is a bridge to a safer, more fulfilling life at home and in the community. Thank you for helping us make a lasting impact on those we serve," said Izzie Sadler, Executive Director, Sowega Council on Aging.

Since 2011, Phoebe Volunteer Services has donated more than $310,000 to the RSVP Ramp Builders Program, building approximately 1,500 ramps. Proceeds from the hospital’s gift shop made the donation possible.
