Healthy Sumter Delivers Fresh Produce to Local Residents

Americus, GA | June 14, 2023 – Healthy Sumter & Flint River Fresh LLC, recently distributed fresh produce to residents of Eastview Apartments in Americus.

75 bags were delivered to the residents for pickup at the main office.  It is part of Phoebe Sumter’s ongoing work with the Healthy Sumter initiative to address Food Insecurity in Americus & Sumter County as well as neighboring counties. Other initiatives include eliminating Food Deserts by creating community gardens and teaching people how to create gardens at their own home. So far this year, 775 produce bags have been distributed and they have benefited 2,360 individuals.

Special thanks to Farmer Fredo of Flint River Fresh; Jenn Palan and the dedicated volunteers at Koinonia Farm for stuffing the produce bags.  Kudos to Phoebe Sumter’s Chance Elliott and Lee Durham for braving today’s unfavorable weather conditions as they delivered the bags to the office for distribution to residents.
