Paws Patrol

Pediatric Treatment and Recovery Through Southwest Georgia’s Paws Patrol

The Paws Patrol Pet Partners® group, is a dog volunteer therapy group that plays an active role in helping to treat patients. This special group of four-legged volunteers has been promoting the healing human-animal bond since 1997. They have been sharing love and laughter with patients at Phoebe for more than 10 years.

Through their visits of unconditional love and acceptance, Paws Patrol dogs have brought smiles to children's faces and lifted the spirits of adult patients as well.

Accompanied by their volunteers, Paws Patrol dogs have also helped patients progress in their therapy. Patients get to brush the dogs and take off and put on the dog’s scarf - this helps patients work on fine motor skills.

About Pet Partners®

Paws Patrol represents Pet Partners®, a non-profit organization and the leading authority in animal assisted activity and therapy development. The Pet Partners program tests and registers human-animal teams, qualifying them to serve in the hospital setting. Both the animals and the volunteers are trained, screened and pass a 22-part evaluation from a licensed evaluator. Evaluations are required every two years to assure our clients that we are willing to do whatever it takes to prove that we represent the best of the best of the best!  Pet Partners ® is the only registry accepted at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Paws Patrol was named Volunteer Albany Non-Profit Group of the Year in 2006 and the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit of the Year in 2008.
