Preparing for Procedure Day

Preparing for Procedure Day

Thank you for choosing Phoebe for your surgical needs. All surgical patients must be tested for COVID-19 prior to their procedure. You will be notified of your COVID-19 test results within 3-5 days. If positive, your procedure will need to be rescheduled for a later date. If negative, you will be given confirmation of your surgery and any additional applicable pre-op instructions. Your safety is our top priority. Therefore, while you wait for your test results, it is extremely important that you self-isolate.

Self-isolation means you should:

  • stay at home
  • not go to work, school or public places
  • avoid public transit such as buses, trains or taxis
  • avoid visitors at home
  • ask friends, family members or delivery services to carry out errands – such as getting groceries, medications or other shopping
  • separate from other people in your home as much as possible – if you share a bathroom, regular cleaning is extremely important
  • wash hands frequently
  • try to avoid touching your face

It is important to monitor your temperature daily and notify your physician’s office if your temperature is 100.4°F or above. On the day of your procedure, your temperature will be checked upon entry into the hospital and you will be provided a mask to wear. Every surgical patient is allowed one caregiver, so they will also be given a temperature check and mask.

Our waiting rooms have been restructured to meet the 6-foot social distancing requirement. All family units (patient and caregiver) will be assigned a seat. If your procedure is at the hospital and you are admitted after your surgery, your caregiver will not be able to stay with you overnight.

Thank you for choosing Phoebe and helping us keep everyone safe.

Day of Procedure

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, we have made changes in our processes to further ensure your safety while here at Phoebe. Below are some additional instructions for the day of your procedure.

  • When reporting for your procedure on our main campus, please enter through the covered entrance at the Medical Towers. (425 W. Third Avenue, Albany, GA)
  • Please arrive no more than 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time, as arriving any earlier will require an additional wait on the first floor of the Medical Tower.
  • Your temperature will be checked upon entry into the hospital and you will be provided a mask to wear if you don’t have one.
  • All surgical patients are allowed to bring one caregiver with them on the day of surgery. Your caregiver’s temperature will also be checked upon entry into the hospital, and they will also be given a mask if they do not have one.
  • Masks must be worn at all times while in the facility.
  • Please follow the 6-foot social distancing requirements while in the facility. Our waiting rooms have been restructured to meet these requirements and floor markers are in place to ensure appropriate distance between patients and caregivers. All family units (patient and caregiver) will be given an assigned a seat.
  • We have cleaning teams in place, so immediate sanitization will occur when the patient and/or caregiver leaves the waiting room.
  • If hospitalization is required after your procedure, your caregiver will not be able to stay with you overnight.

We appreciate your continued support as we work even harder to keep our patients, guests and staff safe.
