Cancer Care Bags Recently Donated to Phoebe Sumter

Americus, GA | Dec. 9, 2021 – Each year at Cornerstone Church during November, members utilize Wednesday nights to devote the time to local community outreach projects. This year was no exception!

One of the projects a group took on was packing cancer care bags for patients receiving treatment at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Each of the 24 bags is packed with various items such as puzzle books, a throw blanket, socks, hand lotion, lip balm, and many other items. All things that are useful and can help create a little comfort for patients during chemo treatments or anytime during their cancer journey.

"Many of us have been touched by cancer in some way, whether it be a friend or family member. We wanted to pack items that would be useful, but also help bring joy during what can be a very difficult and stressful time," said Jen Almeida member of Cornerstone Church. "We are so thankful to our Cornerstone members who donated items as well as to Middle Flint Behavioral Health who also donated several items including the drawstring bags. Being the hands and feet of Christ in our community is so important and this is one way we get to do that."
