Phoebe Updates COVID-19 Numbers

Friday, November 12, 2021 @ 10:47 a.m. -

Albany, Ga. – As of Friday morning, these were Phoebe’s COVID-19 numbers:

  • Total COVID-19 Patients in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital – 14
  • Total COVID-19 Patients in Phoebe Sumter Medical Center – 9
  • Total COVID-19 Patients in Phoebe Worth Medical Center – 0
  • Total Inpatients Recovered – 3,396
  • Total Positive Deaths from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital – 390
  • Total Positive Deaths from Phoebe Sumter – 100
  • Total Positive Deaths from Phoebe Worth – 1
  • Total Vaccines Administered – 73,430

“We are pleased to report a 41% decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the last week.  While the decrease in patients at Phoebe Sumter has flattened some in recent weeks, today’s total of 14 patients in Albany is close to our pre-delta surge level, and that is great news for our community,” said Scott Steiner, Phoebe Putney Health System President and CEO.  “We remember that this time last year our numbers were also relatively low before increasing significantly during and after the holidays.  The difference now is that many people are vaccinated, and we hope that will help mitigate any potential surge that could result from holiday travel and gatherings.  We urge anyone who is not yet vaccinated to get their shots as soon as possible to protect themselves and the loved ones they will spend time with this holiday season,” Steiner added.

Phoebe began providing the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine this week.  It is authorized for 5-11 year-olds and is currently available at Phoebe Pediatrics of Americus, Phoebe Primary Care at Meredyth Place in Albany and Phoebe Primary Care at Laurel Place in Lee County.  Phoebe will add additional locations next week.

Phoebe is also partnering with the Dougherty County School System for a vaccination event on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM.  Vaccinations will be available at the Monroe High School gym for children and adolescents 5 years of age and older.  Parents can call 229-312-MYMD to schedule a vaccination appointment for their children at the location most convenient for them, though appointments are not necessary at the mobile event.
