“We are grateful a growing number of people are recovering from COVID-19 in our community, and today we were thrilled to celebrate the release of our first patient who had been intubated and treated in our intensive care unit.  She is doing well and will continue to recover at home with her family. Unfortunately, today, we also reported two additional deaths of COVID patients today. Our ICU continues to be filled with patients who are seriously ill because of the virus.  We have been working closely with other hospitals around the state to transfer patients in need of intensive care when our unit is unable to accept additional patients. Over the last two days, we transferred three COVID-19 patients, and we appreciate the other hospitals that are helping us make sure all patients are getting the level of care they need,” said Brandi Lunneborg, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Chief Executive Officer.

Anyone who wants to be screened to see if they need to be tested can call the Phoebe Coronavirus Hotline at 229-312-1919.
