Phoebe Sumter Receives Quality-Based Accreditation from DNV GL

Americus, Ga. – Phoebe Sumter Medical Center announced that it has achieved full reaccreditation from DNV GL – Healthcare, the only hospital accreditation program approved by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that integrates the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

“It is a testament to the leaders in our organization and our dedicated employees. They work every day to make sure our patients are safe and get the care they need to get better,” said Brandi Lunneborg, CEO, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

By earning this accreditation, Phoebe Sumter has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV GL’s accreditation program, called NIAHO® (Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys – instead of every three years – and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.
