Giving Opportunities at Phoebe Sumter Foundation

Greatest Needs...

The Phoebe Sumter Foundation accepts undesignated funds at any giving level and will put those donations to use for the greatest needs. By contributing to the Phoebe Sumter Foundation, you help us touch the lives of thousands by bringing world-class medicine and community health and wellness activities to the communities we serve.

Lights of Love: Donate Now!

This holiday season hope will shine brightly at Phoebe Cancer Center at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center as we pay tribute to local cancer patients and their families with their own special Lights of Love tree. Thousands of lights will be lit in honor and memory of loved ones, and donations to the beloved holiday events will benefit oncology patients receiving treatment.

A symbolic light of love can be purchased for a suggested $25, but all donations are welcomed.

Cancer Patient Emergency Fund: Donate Now!

When a diagnosis of cancer is given, it is a life changing event. To support our patients who need assistance with bills or other needs that will help them with their peace of mind during a stressful time in their lives, consider a one-time or ongoing donation to the Phoebe Sumter Oncology Patient Emergency Fund. These fund are only used to support local community members in need and you can feel good knowing you’ve helped someone be able to focus more on beating cancer.

Your HEART is in the Right Place: Donate Now!

Through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, individuals and business can make 100% tax credit-eligible contributions, up to specified limits, to qualified rural hospitals of their choice and Help Enhance Access to Rural Treatment for thousands of Georgians, including those served by Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

All Georgia citizens have the ability, through HEART, to decide how their tax dollars are spent.

Sumter Pink: Register Now!

Cancer survivors lead the way on a walk through Phoebe Sumter. The walk is an uplifting way to support our local cancer patients, celebrate cancer survivors, and remember those we’ve lost to cancer. Proceeds will continue the enhancements of Oncology Services at Phoebe Sumter.

Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail: Donate Now!

On the campus of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, we are building a cross country trail that will provide both a short wellness trail near the hospital and a large event space and longer cross country trail for use by the Phoebe Sumter employees and visitors and the community. The project has already raised $250,000 from generous donations and sponsorships from local contributors and businesses and lead gifts from the Mattie H. Marshall Foundation, Phoebe Sumter Employees, the Junior Service League of Americus, and the Phoebe Sumter Foundation.

Other Naming Sponsors include:

  • Nutrien, Inc.
  • Citizens Bank of Americus
  • Southland Academy
  • South Georgia Technical College
  • Phoebe Sumter Emergency Department
  • Georgia Southwestern State University
  • Dr. Ben Andrews Family
  • Four Seasons Garden Club
  • Phoebe Sumter Auxiliary

Individual sponsors who donate to the project are recognized at the beginning of the trail on Odom Road. Please consider giving to the MHM Cross Country Trail fund for ongoing maintenance and expansion of the trail to continue to provide a safe, fun community asset to increase physical activity and community health and wellness.

Named Endowments and Memorials: Donate Now!

An endowment is a gift that provides continued income to support the donor’s designated purpose. The gift itself is called the principal, and cannot be spent. The principal is invested, where it provides unending interest income to support a hospital program. This allows the gift to perpetually support on behalf of the donor.

Named endowments can be established to honor the donor, friends, relatives or others. The endowment bears the name of the contributing individual or group, or their designated honoree, and the proceeds from the endowment can be designated to support a program or project of the contributor’s choice, or be directed by the Foundation to an area of greatest need.
