Dr. Derek Heard is a native of the Albany area, having graduated from Lee County High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from Albany State University. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at Phoebe Family Medicine Residency in 2002. Dr. Heard is a primary care physician and currently serves as Medical Director of Primary Care for Phoebe Physicians. He serves as chairman of the Southwest Georgia Diabetes Coalition and is a member of the board of directors for the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Heard was named 2017 Phoebe Physician of the Year.
Dr. Troy Skidmore, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, is Medical Director of Orthopaedics for Phoebe Physicians. He completed medical school at Ohio University in Athens, OH, his internship at South Pointe Hospital Cleveland Clinic Healthcare System, his residency in New York at Northshore University Hospital, and his sports medicine fellowship at Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA. Dr. Skidmore sub-specializes in sports medicine and general orthopaedics.
