Community is a vital part of Phoebe’s mission and one of our core values. We are proud to partner with organizations throughout southwest Georgia that work to ensure the people in our region have the necessary tools to improve their lives and the lives of those around them. We support numerous community efforts to enhance the overall health, wellbeing and quality of life of the people we serve.

Ramp Builders

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is a joint effort between Phoebe and the SOWEGA Council on Aging. Phoebe funds the RSVP Ramp Builders who have constructed more than 1,400 ramps at the homes of people with disabilities, providing ramp recipients with mobility to help them live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Drug Take Back

Phoebe partners with organizations including the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit, Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful and the Department of Public Health to take part in the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events. By providing free and convenient options to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted medications, we educate the community about the potential abuse of medications and help keep our communities safe.

Horizons Community Solutions

Horizons Community Solutions – Phoebe and Horizons Community Solutions share a goal of saving lives by providing cancer screenings to people who are uninsured or underinsured. Horizons health navigators work closely with eligible patients and our team at Phoebe to identify and overcome barriers that may prevent patients from getting screened. Phoebe offers colonoscopies and mammograms at no cost and provides free cancer treatment for qualifying patients who need follow-up care. Now, we are building on our partnership by adding lung cancer screenings, as well.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany

Our local Boys & Girls Club serves more than 4,300 young people at nine locations, helping them abstain from risky behavior, develop healthy habits and graduate high school on time. It is one of several non-profit service organizations to which Phoebe provides free office space. That donation has saved the club more than $500,000 over the years. As we do with many other community groups, Phoebe donates to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany’s primary fundraiser and provides a leader to serve on the organization’s board of directors.
