Susan Bruns

Chief Nursing Officer

Susan Bruns is the Chief Nursing Officer for Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. With more than 25 years of nursing experience, Susan focuses on implementation of patient-centered care, evidence-based standards of patient care and performance improvement – making patient safety her top priority.

She started at Phoebe in 1995 as a nurse in the Critical Care Unit and has held various nursing administrative roles throughout her career. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valparaiso University and her master’s degree from LaGrange College. Susan is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and in her spare time Susan enjoys, walking, reading, and watching all types of sports. She and her husband, Bob, have two children.
