Sean Sheff, M.D.
Sean Sheff, MD, general surgery, joined the Phoebe Sumter Physician Group in 2011 and is a member of the medical staff at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. He is a member of Phoebe Sumter Surgical Associates and practices alongside Dr. Jeremy Joyner and Dr. Douglas Joyner.
A native of Dothan, Ala., Sheff comes to South Georgia after serving a Surgical Fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Gundersen Lutheran Hospitals in LaCrosse, Wisc. He earned a bachelor of science in chemistry from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, and upon graduation he completed a General Surgeon Residency at the Medical College of Georgia.
One of his major goals is to continue his passion for all aspects of laparoscopic surgery, which includes bariatric and weight loss surgery.
Sheff is certified in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support, and he is Board Eligible at the American Board of Surgery.
Sheff is married to the former Abby Metcalf and they have a son, Noah. When he is not working, he likes to attend church, read, compose music, work on computers, programming, video gaming, video production and editing, and scuba diving.
