George T. Fredrick, MD
Phoebe Family Medicine Residency
Dr. George Fredrick is currently the Director of the Phoebe Family Medicine Residency which is affiliated with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Fredrick attended college at Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kentucky and attended medical school at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Fredrick completed his Family Practice Residency at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1982.
In July 1982, Dr. Fredrick began a solo family practice in Cynthiana, Kentucky. He also practiced Family Medicine with Obstetrics at Harrison Memorial Hospital and was appointed Vice Chief of Staff in 1984 and Chief of Staff in 1985. Dr. Fredrick then went to work for Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, West Virginia as the Director of Emergency Services from July 1986-May 1989. In June 1989, he was appointed permanent Director of United Hospital Center Family Practice Residency. From July 1998-August 2003, Dr. Fredrick was a staff physician in Primary Care at Medbrook Medical Associates in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
In September 2003, Dr. Fredrick began a teaching appointment at West Virginia University School of Medicine as Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. In October 2005 he became the Director of Family Medicine Residency at West Virginia University. Dr. Fredrick was a sub-investigator at Kendle International from January 2007-October 2008.
Phoebe does not currently conduct or support studies involving prisoners, pregnant women, human fetuses or neonates.
